'''Fury can’t outshine Suns'''

The Fury kicked off their division 4 midlands south season at the College of West Anglia on Saturday evening when they entertained the Sevenoaks Suns. Last season the Suns beat the Fury by an average margin of 60 points! However it was to be a much different game this time around. Sevenoaks started the more confident and focused and moved into a 21 – 13 lead by the end of the 1st period. After a stern team talk Fury swung into top gear and used an 18 – 3 run to move into a seven point lead. On a worrying note though starting point guard Ryan Plaice, who had been influential, picked up a 4th personal foul and had to leave the game. The rest of the quarter was back and forth, before a 10 nil run into the half left Fury again trailing 45 – 40. Sevenoaks continued to pile on the pressure but a couple of Bamfield 3 pointers kept the team within 10 until again the Suns used the end of the period to make a move on the game. With the lead at 19 the game looked to be out of reach for the fast improving Fury side but Manifold was able to find his rhythm offensively and reeled off 18 of the Fury’s next 23 points in a 23 to 4 run. With just under 2 minutes remaining the game was there to be won but poor defence and decision making on offence allowed Sevenoaks to close out winners. Bamfield “It was great to be in another winnable basketball game and the more times we find ourselves in close games the better we will be at closing them out. We played some excellent stuff today and can build and improve on the performance. When we break down the defence and kick the ball to shooters we looked really good and I do believe that when we get a win we can really start to role.”
Final score Fury 80 Suns 89.
Scorers: Manifold 22, Alisauskas 18, Bamfield 18, Plaice 8, Dziarnowki 6, Simon 5, Gibbs 4, Manning, Goss, Wagg, Creed & McLeish.

'''Hornets sting hung over Fury'''
Fury made a swift exit from the National cup at the hands of division 2 Colchester Hornets. With Player coach Bamfield struggling with an ankle injury, aggravated in last night's loss to Sevenoaks, and key men Luke Simon and Manifold struggling with flu, Fury struggled form the outset. The game was effectively over mid way through the 3rd period as fury trailed by 30. However there were some bright points with young Kieran Wagg, 15, stepping up to hit 6 points and Josh Creed recording his first ever national league points. There where also decent performances from Matt Goss and Ashley Manning. Bamfield “Every game is a learning experience for our team and we can identify several things we need to work on in practice to be better prepared for the upcoming weekend. It was great to get the younger guys some court time and this should benefit them in the long term.”
Final Score Fury 39 Hornets 80
Scorers: Manifold 10, Bamfield 9, Wagg 6, Simon 4, Alisauskas 4, Plaice 3, Manning 2, Creed 1, Goss, McLeish & Gibbs.

**CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE?**

The Fury basketball club has now been established for 7 years during which time the club has progressed significantly both on and off court. After a fundamental review of the Fury structure we are hoping to make radical changes within our organisation. As part of this review we have identified 2 key goals for the next 5 years.
1. To build an organised volunteer structure that support excellence in all areas of the club.
2. To focus energy on production of home grown talent with particular commitment of resources to players currently aged 13 - 17.

In year 1 to move towards these goals we hope to compete at 3 levels externally;
National league men
British colleges league
National league under 16

We also intend to build on our current central venue under 12, 14 and 18 West Norfolk leagues.
